Royal Papworth Hospital is seeking a dynamic pharmacist to lead the pharmaceutical service to our cardiology patients. This exciting role offers the opportunity to join a well-established close team of senior pharmacists, specialist technicians, clinicians and specialist nurses to positively impact patient care.
The pharmacy department sits at the heart of our state-of-the-art, digitally enabled specialist cardio-respiratory hospital. The successful candidate will have a hospital background, ideally with experience in cardiology or general medicine.

Our staff are encouraged to attend conferences and networking events, participate in research and enrol on leadership courses.
We are also anticipating the opening of the new Cambridge South train station in early 2026, with excellent railway connections to the East of England and London, providing quick and convenient commuting access to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
You will provide expert pharmaceutical care across inpatient, outpatient, and day case settings, optimising medicines to enhance patient outcomes. Working closely with consultants and clinicians, you'll ensure safe prescribing practices, contribute to policy development, and support the introduction of new medicines.
As a senior member of the team, you'll also play a key role in mentoring and training junior pharmacists and technicians, fostering a culture of professional development and innovation.
Key responsibilities:
*Deliver high-level medicines optimisation & expert pharmaceutical support
*Provide clinical leadership in cardiology medicine
*Engage in research, audits & service development
*Supervise and mentor junior staff
*Line manage a rotational pharmacist or pharmacy technician
*Report on medication expenditure to the Cardiology Division
You will be predominantly working on site at Royal Papworth Hospital with opportunities for home working on an occasional basis.

Registered Pharmacist with Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent)
Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
Experience in provision of clinical pharmacy services in range of specialties
Experience in the supervision of junior staff
Experience in undertaking audit or quality improvement projects
Able to work effectively as part of both the multidisciplinary and pharmacy teams.
Able to demonstrate leadership skills
High standard of verbal and written communication in a range of different contexts.
Good time management and problem-solving skills - able to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
Experience in provision of clinical pharmacy services in cardiology (secondary or tertiary care)
